The only confidence we have in this life is knowing that God is always with us.
He is our Protector, Comforter,and Guide.
He has led me through without fear before,
He can do it again, and again, and again.
In this knowledge fear fades and tranquility of heart and mind takes its place.
We should look for and find God in every moment,
filled with the assurance that He is with us through
the good and the bad, the known and the unknown, the beginnning and the end.
He is there when others are not.
If we follow God, through prayer, reading, and application of His word,
He will keep us close to Him,
traveling down the right path, until we reach our home, where He greets us.
Within the shelter of His embrace, fear is vanquished.

Oh, Great Spirit…

Oh, Great Spirit,
whose voice I hear in the winds
and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me.
I am small and weak.
I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes
ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made
and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand
the things you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden
in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be superior to my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.
Make me always ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes,
so when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my spirit will come to you
without shame.

Jesus Christ, before ascending into heaven,
You promised to send the Holy Spirit to Your apostles & disciples.
Grant that the same Spirit may perfect in our lives the work of Your grace and love.

Grant us
the Spirit of FEAR Of The Lord that we will be filled with a loving reverence toward You.

the Spirit of PIETY that we may find peace & fulfillment in the service of God while serving others;

the Spirit of KNOWLEDGE that we may know You and know ourselves and grow in holiness;

the Spirit of UNDERSTANDING to enlighten our minds with the light of Your truth;

the Spirit of COUNSEL that we may choose the surest way of doing Your will, seeking first the Kingdom;

the Spirit of FORTITUDE that we may bear our cross with You and,
with courage, overcome the obstacles that interfere with our salvation;

Grant us the Spirit of WISDOM that we may aspire to the things that last forever;
Teach us to be Your faithful disciples and animate us in every way with Your Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is frequently referred to by metaphor and symbol, both doctrinally and biblically.
Theologically speaking these symbols are a key to understanding of the Holy Spirit and his actions.

signifies the Holy Spirit’s action in Baptism,
such that in the manner that “by one Spirit [believers] were all baptized”,
so they are “made to drink of one Spirit”.{1Cor 12:13} Thus the Spirit is also personally the living water welling up
from Christ crucified{Jn 19:34} {1 Jn 5:8} as its source & welling up in Christians to eternal life.

The symbolism of bless with oil also signifies the Holy Spirit, to the point of becoming a synonym for the Holy Spirit.
The coming of the Spirit is referred to as his “anointing”.[2Cor 1:21]
In some denominations anointing is practiced in Confirmation; (”chrismation” in the Eastern Churches).
Its full force can be grasped only in relation to the primary anointing accomplished by the Holy Spirit, that of Jesus.
Christ (in Hebrew, messiah) means the one “anointed” by God’s Spirit.

symbolizes the transforming energy of the Holy Spirit’s actions. In the form of tongues “as of fire”,
the Holy Spirit rested on the disciples on the morning of Pentecost.

Cloud and light
The Spirit comes upon the Virgin Mary and “overshadows” her,
so that she may conceive and give birth to Jesus. On the mountain of transfiguration,
the Spirit in the “cloud came and overshadowed” Jesus, Moses and Elijah, Peter, James and John,
and “a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!’- Lk 9:34-35

The dove
When Christ comes up from the water of his baptism, the Holy Spirit, in the form of a dove,
comes down upon him and remains with him.[18][19][Mt 3:16]

Wind - The Spirit is likened to the “wind that blows where it will,”- Jn 3:8
and described as “a sound from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind.”
